Your machine writes a detailed record to its SD card every night, in an open format called EDF. The app that came with it typically shows a compliance score and little else, which is enough for your insurer and not much use to you.

This reads the card directly and reports what is actually in it: how long the machine ran each night, how much air escaped around your mask, and what pressure you were on. Those three numbers explain most of the difference between a good night and a bad one.

Your data never leaves your computer. The files are read inside your browser and nothing is uploaded or stored. This is health information about you, and there is no reason it should be sent anywhere to be counted.

What this is not: it is not a diagnosis and it is not medical advice. It reports what your machine recorded. Sleep apnea is diagnosed and treated by clinicians, and these are the same numbers they look at — which is exactly why it helps to arrive already knowing them.

Common questions

Which machines does this work with?
Any machine that writes standard EDF files to its SD card, which includes the ResMed AirSense range. Philips DreamStation machines use a proprietary format and are not supported.
How do I get the data off my machine?
Take the SD card out of the machine (usually a slot on the side), put it in your computer, and drop the DATALOG folder onto this page. Turn the machine off before removing the card.
What is a large leak, and why does it matter?
Above roughly 24 L/min, enough air is escaping that the pressure reaching you is no longer reliable — and the machine’s own event counts become less trustworthy too. That is why a night can show a good AHI and still leave you exhausted.
Why does four hours keep coming up?
It is the threshold most US insurers use when checking whether you are using the machine enough to keep covering it. It is an insurance rule rather than a medical one, but it is the number that tends to matter administratively.
Does this show my AHI?
Not yet. Event scoring lives in separate files on the card and is being worked on. Usage, leak, and pressure are the three that explain most bad nights, so this starts there.
Is this the same as OSCAR?
No. OSCAR is a superb free desktop program that shows you everything, and if you want the full picture you should use it. This is deliberately smaller: it runs in a browser with nothing to install, and it explains a few things in plain language rather than charting all of them.
