What we publish
- Directional benchmark ranges by industry.
- Anonymized aggregates from past diagnostic runs, when sample sizes are sufficient.
- Confidence and threshold gating to avoid misleading small samples.
What we never publish
- No business names.
- No addresses.
- No emails or phone numbers.
- No free-text submissions.
- No individual runs.
Thresholds
- Overall aggregates shown only when total runs >= 200.
- Per-industry aggregates shown only when runs >= 50.
- Otherwise show "not enough samples yet".
Data handling & privacy
Calculators run in your browser, and nothing you type is sent anywhere unless you press the button under the result offering to add it to the benchmark. What leaves then is the figures and your trade — no business name, no contact details, no free text. We aggregate those, publish only summary statistics such as medians or percentiles, and clamp extreme values so one unusual business cannot distort a figure. No individual business data or free-text inputs are ever shown. A contribution is not attached to an account, so the only handle on yours is a cookie in your browser. You can withdraw it from there — and if you clear your cookies we lose the ability to find it, which is the same thing as it being anonymous.

Are these benchmarks statistically representative?
They are directional rather than statistically representative. The goal is to provide credible ranges and medians without overstating precision.
Why medians instead of averages?
Medians reduce the effect of outliers and better reflect typical outcomes for operational metrics.
How often are benchmarks updated?
Daily, from contributions people choose to send. A figure is only published once enough businesses in that trade have contributed — until then this page says so rather than showing a number built on too few.
Can I contribute data?
Yes, and only if you ask to. Finish a calculator and there is a button under the result. It sends the figures you typed and your trade, and nothing else — no business name, no contact details, no free text. You can withdraw it again from the same browser.
What happens if sample sizes are small?
We suppress aggregates below the thresholds and show a neutral "not enough samples yet" note.
